NUS Baba House

Established in 2008, the NUS Baba House was once the ancestral home of a Straits Chinese family. It is now conceived as a heritage house to promote appreciation, reflection and research into Straits Chinese history and culture.

The first and the second floor of the NUS Baba House reference the Straits Chinese community’s material culture dating back to the early 20th century. The third floor gallery hosts temporary exhibitions, providing an avenue for researchers and art practitioners to explore and contribute to the evolving discourse on the Straits Chinese culture, hybridity, architecture, conservation and urban development.
