Established in 1996, the Museum Roundtable (MR), an initiative led by the National Heritage Board (NHB), represents and comprises of a collective of over 50 public and private museums, heritage galleries and unique attractions. Its members have continuously and conscientiously built on their exhibition, programming, curatorial and marketing skills, contributing to a vibrant and growing arts, culture and heritage eco-system in Singapore.

First announced in September 2010, the MR Awards is the first national accolade that is dedicated to museums and galleries. The awards aim to recognise excellence in the museum sector, celebrate museum best practices and innovation, and enhance the local and international profiles of members of the MR.
