Starting a New Museum

Setting up a new museum is a complex undertaking which requires long term commitment, and significant financial resources. The American Alliance of Museums (AAM) provides a wide range of resources to help potential museum owners have a better understanding on the general processes required in this process. The following websites provide some guidelines on setting up a new museum:

1. American Alliance of Museum. "Starting a Museum." Accessed September 16, 2015. http://www.aam-us.org/about-museums/starting-a-museum

2. Museum Planner Blog by Mark Walhimer. http://museumplanner.org/starting-a-museum/

3. Boyan et al. Running a Museum: A Practical Handbook. Edited by Patrick J. Boylan. Paris: ICOM, 2004.

After understanding the rigours involved in setting up a new museum in Singapore, please contact us at NHB_MR_Secretariat@nhb.gov.sg to set up a consultation session.
